When you treat atheists as if we were dead inside simply because we don't believe in a supernatural creator or our own immortality… you're treating us as if we weren't fully human. It isn't just that I don't believe in God, and naturally, hope there is no God. There are also several other concepts used to show that proving that some things don't exist is impossible, Russel's teapot, the invisible pink unicorn, and the dragon in my garage. As an atheist, I don't have to believe anything. I can be pals with either of those two. But is this the view of most atheists? You shouldn't believe there is an incorporeal dragon in my garage who breaths fire that won't burn you unless I give you an actual reason to believe it exists. I don't want there to be a God; I don't want the universe to be like that.[i]. I'm certain that they do not exist. In other words, I just have to be able to say, “That whole God thing doesn't seem to match up with reality; do you have any evidence? We don't know what God intends for those who don't believe in his existence, although I am persuaded that he doesn't just throw them away. I just have to be skeptical of religious bullshit. If they listen to country music and they believe in God, that's fine, or if they don't believe in God, and don't like country either, cool! Everyone!” Francis continued, “We must meet one another doing good. But someone who is an atheist and loves country music? I like all of these things and think they provide a good example for the burden of proof. Sure, there are some who may pose as atheists but that does not make them real.
